Born from the ashes of Little Amsterdam during the Covid-19 pandemic.
How did it happen you may ask yourself, especially as we have opened another food establishment, why did we do it, we have been asked this on several occasions.
In February we were thriving and we had established ourselves after 5 years of hard work and devotion, we had arrived and had no intention of stopping what we were doing. Then overnight our lives changed and so did our plans. We prepared ourselves for becoming a takeaway and set ourselves up to do the deliveries, all the staff were on furlough, we didn't get a rent break amongst other costs. The costs were mounting up and the orders weren't coming in enough. The main chef (my husband) was exhausted and longed for a different lifestyle, Little Amsterdam was MY passion, MY baby. I needed to rethink my strategy. Our kitchen is upstairs and gets very hot, social distancing is extremely difficult and wearing ppe isn't really an option in an extremely hot environment. Moving the kitchen into the cookery school wasn't viable for making the food for Little Amsterdam. So Taquero was created. Everything is different, but in a good way. I moved the kitchen downstairs and created a menu that could work. We are now a fast pace burrito and taco bar and we also specialise in milkshakes, also in the alcoholic form for the extra indulgence, we also have some fantastic cocktails created by us on the menu. Upstairs is now used for the cookery school and another business idea that I am working on.
As we did before we still cater for people who have allergies, we cater for people on the plant based diet and we don't have any nuts in our gelato.
The interior has completely changed, it is vibrant, colourful and a very happy place to be. We simply love it.
We are completely geared up for takeaways and deliveries so you can enjoy our food in the comfort of your own home. When you come to eat in you can even use our app to order your food and we will get it ready for you.
We look forward to introducing you to our "New place" and hope that you'll love it.
Thank you all again for your continued support, we are delighted to be serving you again.
